                                                  Essential Job Functions:

 

Conduct criminal, motor vehicle and other investigations by securing areas, gathering and preserving evidence, interviewing complainants, victims, witnesses and others involved, taking field notes, collecting photographs, finger prints, affidavits, etc. Prepare affidavits, reports and court cases and present testimony in court for the above. Patrol specific districts on foot or in a police vehicle. Assist in investigating suspicious activities and persons; make arrests for violations of federal and state laws and city ordinances. Respond to emergencies such as motor vehicle accidents, crimes in progress, etc. Respond to complaints; investigate and attempt to mediate conflicts. Investigate traffic accidents, aid injured persons, determine if any criminal offenses have been committed and write appropriate reports. Direct traffic at accidents, fires, public assemblages and at busy intersections as necessary. Patrol parking areas and city streets, issue tickets and summonses for parking and traffic violations. Investigate crimes against persons and property. Maintain uniforms, equipment and weapons in accordance with department directives. Serve subpoenas, arrest warrants, citations and deliver emergency messages. Provide prisoner transport. Deliver court paperwork. Maintain positive public relations while enforcing the law, providing information or otherwise assisting the public. Document all actions in writing as per department and state regulations.

Performs other related duties as assigned.  

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Must have MPCTC certification, High School diploma or GED. Some college and police/security experience is preferred but not required.

 

Valid Driver's License.  

 

Must have valid Driver’s Licence and provide driving history transcript from MVA/DMV

Physical Requirements:

 

Police Applicant must have correctable 20/20 vision, an applicant's medical history will be reviewed thoroughly and a determination will be made whether any medical issue (or condition) could potentially affect the applicant's ability to perform the basic functions of the Police Officer position. This medical review ensures that each candidate's situation is reviewed on an individual basis. If you have undergone a particular surgical procedure (e.g., radial keratotomy) and/or have some preexisting medical condition (e.g., hypertension), this will require careful review during the physical examination process. Issues/conditions that surface during the Medical Reviews may delay the final processing for employment. Although an applicant's doctor provides information about the applicant's medical condition, it is the physician who decides if the applicant is physically able to perform the duties of the job. This decision is based on the review of the applicant's doctor's findings and the Police Dept knowledge of the requirements of the job. Essential Job Functions:

Responds to calls and investigates complaints of code and ordinance on private and public properties. Identifies code violations and issues notices of violation and citations for said violation(s). Provides information and assistance to the general public, commercial interests, and businesses regarding code enforcement issues.
Patrols town roadways to remove illegally placed signs and identify and address code violations.
Enters and retrieves information from a computer in order to perform research, update records, process case documentation, or to respond to actions and requests. Completes case documentation and incident reports and compiles supporting documentation in order to document and explain facts and circumstances surrounding the violation(s). May be required to testify in a courtroom setting or other legal proceeding to ensure that complete and correct information is related to all participants; provides depositions to the court.

Performs other related duties as assigned.  

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED; supplemented by one year previous experience in Code Enforcement or similar enforcement function; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

Valid Driver's License.  

Must have valid Driver’s Licence and provide driving history transcript from MVA/DMV

While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, odors, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic substances, excessive noise, temperature extremes, vehicular traffic, dampness/humidity, confrontational persons, animals, and various forms of wildlife.
