Business checks are a service provided free of charge by the Cottage City Police Department. These checks are conducted daily, around the clock. While most, if not all businesses have their own alarm systems, there is no guarantee that the alarm will function properly each and every time. Sometimes an owner working late might forget to lock a door when he or she leaves, or a suspicious person may enter to look around. Occasionally a business might be a target for vandals. These are the types of things the alarm will not necessarily alert for. The police department, by routinely checking businesses, offers owners some piece of mind.
